Early scientific studies of meditation and trends in contemplative research are overviewed. The contemporary dialogues, including the Mind & Life Dialogues with the Dalai Lama and the Serenity Ridge Dialogues with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche are discussed for context. The talk presents currents in the contemplative sciences over the past two decades and concludes with reflections about what is on the horizon of possibilities for the Buddhism and science dialogue.
